We around here are big believers in being prepared. The Zombie Apocalypse is not a matter of ‘if’, but of ‘when’, and as such, we should all put some thought into being ready for the day (or more probably night…).
To help with your preparation, the guys over at Zombie Tools can help fit you out. These guys make customised ‘tools’ for taking out zombies quietly and effectively. In their words:
How much ammo do you have for your gun? Under a worst-case scenario, probably enough to last a few days. We’re thinking in terms of months and years. Furthermore, ammo is heavy and thus not terribly portable. While most people we’ve talked to imagine holing up somewhere and fighting a stationary, defensive battles against zombies, we’ve imagined scenarios where mobility would be your best chance of survival, and so would like to remain as manoeuvrable as possible. To that end, our basic survival package includes a solid mountain bike, a sidearm, and a Zombie Tools blade.
Each blade they make is custom done and is made from high quality steel and made to do the job and last. You can read about their development process in their FAQ.
The Zombie Tools site also has a really high quality Zombie Gallery that is well worth checking out as well.

Love the Urban Bone Machete.
Have to say I think in a zombie apocalypse we are safer out in country, more weapons, more spread out supply of live flesh for zombies to find and no giant mobs of Zombies able to form.
In the City however, you are brain food.
Well… I have a plan that involves taking over a skyscraper and building concentric rings of defence up the tower with escape routes at the top consisting of flying foxes heading straight to safe houses in other skyscrapers…
Or, we could just all fly out to Lord Howe or Norfolk Island… I don’t think Zombies swim that well.
Or we could just go to Far North QLD where they would have to get past the Crocs to reach us.
Well… Norfolk Island I think would be awesome… Slight supply problems though… One of the advantages of the city is the easy supply of food/tools/etc…
Norfolk has fish and fruit as well as arable land and some livestock.
A long term supply, where as City would run out of food and you would have to avoid the Zombies
while foraging or growing food.
Tools would be a problem, you would have to go stoneage or go on raids onto mainland.
All valid points dude… one small problem… the journey getting there…
Well, I think easier to get a plane and pilot there than hold up in skyscraper if we had enough warning.
I did have another thought though, how about An island in the middle of the harbour, e.g. Goat Island or Fort Dennison.
Fish and water available, and still close enough to do raids into the city.
Well, the Goat Island/Fort Island options would combine the best of both worlds. The only problem with that is dealing with other humans who are panicked into ‘behaving badly’ as well. It would still need to be defensible… The more I think about it, the more I like the Norfolk Island idea… Just getting there reliably is the only cause for concern.
Oh well, if push comes to shove, there is always Tasmania
I think holing up is probably a more practical solution, especially if we hole up above a 7-11! Moving is a good idea, but it depends on the sort of zombies.
There are the scary Resident Evil fast-moving zombies, in which case trapping yourself inside seems like a good idea.
Or the slower moving Dawn Of The Dead style, in which case riding around chopping off heads is probably a good plan.
Or we could go for my personal favourite, the I Am Legend fast-moving-but-only-come-out-at-night kind. Personally, I prefer a foe that has limits!
Why are we not taught to identify the variates of Zombie menace in P.E. class ( the class where we have tools like javelin, discuss etc)?
haha
I actually got out the Rounders/virigo bats for the first time in years on Friday, noone knew what they were! I told them they were from Quidditch
I think I worked out a great way to survive the Zombocalypse… at least from the zombies.
BIKERS!
they have heavily fortified and armed bases and know how to fight!
