Read an RPG Book in Public Week – Not too late to join!

Read an RPG in Public WeekThis week is Read An RPG In Public week which is a project put forward by The Escapist as a means to promote roleplaying as the healthy, sociable and above all, awesome hobby that it is. We have all, at times I imagine, felt the brunt of people who have not understood the hobby, and this is an excellent opportunity to get some positive publicity out there. The idea behind the week is to get gaming out of the usual close circle of nerds and into the public arena where hopefully it will catch people’s eyes and they may choose to ask you about it.

The Escapist has a page promoting the week (which is actually run three times a year) with handy advice on the types of books to pick (apparently they say that Kill Puppies for Satan is somehow not appropriate…) and where to read them (again, they say reading Demon: The Fallen in a church might somehow cause offence). You will also find marketing material there which, well… let’s just say you should really look at the poster…

We here at the Dice of Doom headquarters strongly support this project as an excellent way of introducing new people to hobby and as a way to break down some of the stigma associated with roleplaying games. So get out there with your best, most eye-catching, roleplaying game book and help the cause.

The week runs from September 26 through to October 2nd.
