<itunes:summary>The Dice of Doom podcast is a lively discussion about role-playing games, focusing heavily on Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu and Warhammer along with many other gaming systems. We have been gaming for longer than we care to freely admit and we have a wide range of interests and experiences in gaming in general (everything from obscure games printed in the 1980's to the most recent tabletop wargames). We like to take a lighthearted approach to our discussions and mix them up with other nerdy news and content as well.</itunes:summary>

Despite an original announcement stating that iOS was going to be first off the rank, Android pipped iDevices to the post when Minecraft Pocket Edition was announced for the Xperia Play. Thankfully, for those of you with an iOS enabled device, the wait is over and you can now enjoy the fruits of Mojang's labour in the form of a much cutdown version of everyone's favourite sandboxed game. Continue reading →

Jagex is not unfamiliar with the creation of RPGs. However, if you are expecting the same richness of experience from Undercroft, you will be disappointed. This is not to suggest that the game is in any way deficient – only that one cannot hope for the same level of detail in an iPhone game that one might expect from a massively multiplayer online game. Continue reading →

MineCraft Pro is one of these… and unlike some of the other apps, it costs money. So naturally, I was extremely dubious about it. While it’s a reference app designed to be used whilst you play Minecraft on your computer the question remains: "Is it worth the price tag?". Continue reading →

<itunes:summary>This week in the Dice of Doom podcast we discuss common issues and complaints about Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition and strategies by which these can be overcome through the cunning application of house rules and modified systems. We have all heard the many complaints that have been made about D&D4E - the long combats, the lack of differentiation between classes, the lacklustre abilities, etc. All of these things can be addressed in various ways to improve the gaming experience had by players and GM's.</itunes:summary>

The good news is that this series is being brought to the iPhone and iPad by Bright AI with the release of the first book, The Shamutanti Hills. Continue reading →

Many of you would be familiar with the dice game by now, and if you're not, you probably should be. The premise of the game is simple - you and you're fellow players are all zombies trying to eat as many brains as you can without getting shotgunned. Now, with the release of the iPhone version, you can play anytime, anywhere. Continue reading →
